§ 2-65. Vacancies.

  • (a)

    Membership on a committee shall be terminated automatically when:

    (1)

    A member is absent without a valid excuse based on unavoidable circumstances submitted prior to the absence and approved by the committee at the meeting at which the absence occurs from three (3) consecutive regularly scheduled meetings of the committee during a calendar year. All absences will be duly recorded in the meeting minutes. Absences from emergency or special meetings will not be recorded against a member in calculating the number of absences ; or

    (2)

    A member submits a written resignation; or

    (3)

    A member no longer meets the eligibility requirements; or

    (4)

    A member's term expires.

    (b)

    Upon receipt of a resignation or when advised of a vacancy, the city commission shall be requested to appoint a person to fill the unexpired term of the member. The commission shall designate who should fill the vacancy.

    (c)

    Should a resignation be submitted to staff, they will immediately notify the chair and the city manager/city clerk.
